I believe we all have been there. Spending from minutes to hours, tweaking all of our tones and presets to perfection, only to find that our sound absolutely SUCKS when trying it on stage. It’s a common thing to happen, but why does it happen?

Whether using a preamp or an amp sim for bass, whether connecting to a PA for live or directly to an audio interface for recording purposes, the bass tone serves only one purpose... To fit perfectly in the mix!

Ok, let’s clear some things first. What’s our goal? To get a sound as close to a tube amp as possible. But why do we do that? We have played or listened to a tube amp with the volume cranked up and know the feeling!
